Preacher’s Ponderings

Starting a blog has been on my mind for a while now, so I am going to kick this off in January 2026, hopefully you will see a new blog every month, at least that is my goal. This year when the clock strikes midnight and a new year begins, many of us get excited, hopeful for what is about to unfold over the next 12 months, but there can also be some uncertainty. The nice thing about beginning again is that it’s not just a calendar change, it can be a spiritual change opportunity. In Scripture, we see countless reminders that God is the Author of new beginnings, and His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22–23). Now, before you rush into your new year’s resolutions, take a moment to remember how God has carried you through this past year, answered prayers, unexpected blessings, or the strength to get you through those tough times and to endure those challenges. Gratitude is the soil where our faith grows. Then think about inviting God into your planning instead of relying on your own personal goals. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. So, ask God to align your goals with His will, so your steps throughout the year will be aligned with His wisdom. And this is a perfect time to let go of all those old burdens, whether it is guilt, disappointment, or fear, remember that in Christ you are a new creation, “a new life has begun!”. (2 Corinthians 5:17) This is not just a fresh start but a transformed life. And my final thought, I don’t want to make this too long, because I am hoping you will revisit again next month, anchor your hopes in God’s promises. The world will change, it always has and will continue to do so, but God’s Word remains steady. When uncertainty shows itself, remember to hold fast to His promises, peace in the storm, joy in trials, and strength for every season.

“Lord, thank You for the gift of a new year. Guide my steps, renew my heart, and help me walk in Your truth. May my life reflect Your love and bring glory to Your name. Amen.”
